How to begin a daily quiet time
Find a quiet place to be alone. Learn to withdraw from the busyness of life and spend a few moments alone with God each day. Commit to a regular time to spend with God. Pick a time that works best for you, (early morning, afternoon or evenings). Find a plan that works best for you. This year we have three different plans available. New Testament, Old Testament or both the Old and New Testament.
Pray with focus and openness to see what God has for you.
Read the selected passage of Scripture slowly. Underline or highlight key words or phrases in the Bible passage. Use a pen or highlighter to mark new discoveries from the text.
Reflect on what strikes you as you read. Ask questions about the passage using these words; who, what, why, when, where, or how. Jot down your answers to these questions
Respondas God speaks to you through the Scriptures. Ask: How could my life be different today as I respond to what I’m reading? What have I learned about who God is through my reading?
Pray again. Be quiet. Ask God to show you his Word. Talk to God about what He has said to you.
